About This Content Expand your collection of modern German passenger trains with the introduction of the DB BR 648 to Train Simulator. The DB BR 648 is a two-car diesel multiple unit (DMU) built by Alstom as part of their Coradia family of multiple units. The LINT sub-class – of which the BR 648 is part of - stands for ‘Leichter Innovativer Nahverkehrstriebwagen’ (Light Innovative Local Transport Rail Vehicle), as it is designed to operate on regional stopping services across non-electrified track. The two halves of the unit rest on shared ‘Jacobs’ bogies to improve stability, reduce weight and production costs, and lower noise levels of the wheels on the rails. With a total of 422hp, a top speed of 120km/h (75mph) and space for 115 passengers, this DMU has all it needs to manage the more rural scene in Northern Germany, connecting smaller towns with the big cities such as Lübeck or Neumünster. The BR 648 is designed with accessibility in mind, featuring low floors to allow for faster, step free access for passengers, and wheelchair accessible facilities. The floor itself has been designed to absorb and reduce sound that comes from the diesel engines and the exhaust heat from the engines is used to heat the cabin of the unit. Some of the seating is also raised higher than the low floor to distance passengers from the noise and cushion the vibration of the engine. The BR 648 for Train Simulator is available in Deutsche Bahn Traffic Red livery and recreates the DMU as it operates today for DB on the Hamburg-Lübeck Railway route. The locomotive is also Quick Drive compatible, giving you the freedom to drive the DB BR 648 on any Quick Drive enabled route for Train Simulator, such as those available through Steam. Also included are scenarios specifically for the Hamburg-Lübeck Railway route (available separately and required to play these scenarios).ScenariosThree scenarios for the Hamburg-Lübeck Railway route:Bad Oldesloe to Hamburg HbfLübeck Hbf to Bad OldesloeHamburg Hbf to Bad OldesloeMore scenarios are available on Steam Workshop online and in-game. This is a solid add-on for your German collection. It adds the stopping passenger services on Hamburg-Lubeck since the other trains with this route mostly cover the regional runs. The exterior model looks great with attention to detail, especially around the couplings. The interior cab is nothing short of nice. They added the option to turn on and off the screens which are non-functional anyways (Would be nice to see your timetable on them in the future). As for the actually running, PZB and Sifa work fine. I had no problems on the scenario I ran which was the easiest one. The acceleration is relatively slow (but that's expected for DMU) and the max speed (120km\/h) doesn't take too long to get up to. Like the 442 Talent you have a combined throttle\/brake and a seperate train brake. Braking is good, seems to slow down nicely in time for stations.Though only 3 scenarios (which is common now for loco DLC), they do range from easy (Clear, not much AI) to very challenging (Storm, delayed AI, lots of PZB use). The sounds (though I'm not from Germany and have never heard one of these) are pretty good. Start-up and shut down are very nice. I particularly liked the fact that the unit you're driving in is louder than the other end when revving up. Overall, a very nice add-on if you're looking to expand your German set. DTG have done a good job lately with the German add-ons in my opinion. 9\/10. Not a minute to early, since DTG a long time has used old trains for regional trains around germany this was just what I wanted. Im sure it gonna be heavily used in a lot of scenarios from a lot of creators since the other old stuff from ELAP is outdated and on the way to exit service\/limited service. I recommend this unit, the model is awesome and I also very like the overall behavior of the train. The only thing I miss are sun visors, but they are lately included only in a few locos :( I dont rate the sound of the train, because I dont know how it sounds in real life, but I think its pretty good.Model 10\/10Sound 8\/10 (Could be bit more loud)View 8\/10 (The seat could have been a bit lower)Features 9\/10 (1 point down for the sun visors :D)Overall: 9\/10. If you are buying this to drive, save your money. If you need it for AI use its a fairly solid add on, a prototypical asset suitable for a number of DB routes, looks similar enough to other classes in the same family to use as a surrogate.Pros: Looks okCons:BuggyNasty physicsOdd soundsOne livery.
